Event Information
Hi all, and many thanks for your interest in the England WMCQ #1, hosted by Patriot Games Sheffield. We are searching for seven floor judges for Sunday's main WMCQ event and two Standby judges at 227 and 260 players. A last-chance qualifier will also be run on Saturday, along with multiple side-event drafts: we will need 1 L2+ HJ and two Standbys at 33 and 65 players.
WMCQ Head Judge: Raymond Fong (Level 3, Warwick)
Format: Standard
Rules Enforcement Level: Competitive
Location: Patriot Games (Saturday), Holiday Inn (Sunday)
Sponsorship Options
Selected volunteer judges will be expected to arrive for the start of registration (provisionally 9:00am) and stay until at least the end of the Swiss rounds. One or two judges may be required to stay for varying amounts of the top 8. We'll try to organise who these judges are before the event itself.
Selected standby judges are committing to play the event (for free) if they are qualified to do so, unless they are activated. We will endeavour to be on top of pre-registration numbers to provide you with this information as soon as we can. If activated, you will be treated as a volunteer judge as defined above.
If you require early acceptance, or have restrictions on the hours you are able to work, please let me know via e-mail (wonggonewrong@yahoo.co.uk) or some other messaging system.
Compensation
Compensation for this event will be based on time worked, and will be the national minimum wage (£7.20/hour).
As long as there is a minimum of 110 players in attendance and at least 10 hours worked (this is inclusive of lunch breaks), judges can expect a payment of at least £72 for working the event.
An invoice will be required by the tournament organiser, and a template for this can be provided for you on the day. This will be handled in cash. Store credit conversions may be possible, please enquire about this if it pertains to you after your selection.
Judge Testing
Judge testing for Level 1 and 2 is available at this event.
Anyone wishing to test for Level 1 must meet the following criteria:
- Complete the pre-test requirements listed on the [O] Blog.
Judges who wish to be considered for testing for Level 2 must meet the following criteria:
- Complete the pre-test requirements listed on the [O] Blog.
- Take a Level 2 Practice Exam and e-mail the exam ID and score to wonggonewrong@yahoo.co.uk.
Best of Luck!
Best of luck to all applicants. You have until noon on June 3rd to apply, in order to give everyone as much lead time before the event as is possible to book travel, accomodation, and so on. Please include a meaningful cover letter, especially if we haven't worked together, as this will be the primary method of determining selections.
If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.
