Origins Game Fair Presented by Pastimes

Welcome to the Origins Game Fair 2016!

On behalf of Pastimes Games, we want to welcome you to the Origins Game Fair in Columbus Ohio.  This is Pastimes first time hosting this event and we want to make it a great show. Origins has a great history of supporting Magic and we want to add an excellent chapter in that history.  

The staff at Orgins consists of more than just judges.  We are also looking for great people to help with scorekeeping, registration, the Prize Wall, and other areas.  If you or someone you know is interested in helping in one of these areas, please share this info with them.  If they do not have easy access here, please have them email us at staff@pastimes.net and let us know of their interest.

Please fill out the following information as completely as possible. We will be processing applications and making staffing requests and announcements on an ongoing basis.

Pastimes is greatly interested in judges and staff who are dedicated to making the event and convention enjoyable for all attendees - and fun for those of us running the event as well! If you have the desire to help us attain that goal - we are looking for your help.  Applying to be on staff at Origins is applying to help make one of the best Events in Magic happen.  As such, we are looking for people who have a desire to help in whatever way needed to create an amazing experience for our customers – the players.  

Expectations

All staff members are expected to perform in a professional manner that reflects positively on the rest of the event staff, the Tournament Organizer, Wizards of the Coast and the Judge Program.  We desire team members that diligently seek to promote a fun, exciting environment for everyone to enjoy.  This also includes avoidingactivities that could in any way negatively affect a staff member’s performance.

All staff members are expected to dress professionally throughout the weekend, with all clothing clean and neat.  Staff members who do not meet this expectation will be sent to remedy the situation immediately or will be removed without compensation.  Judges are expected to wear the Magic Judge shirt, plain undershirt, black belt, black pants (tactical pants are acceptable, jeans are highly discouraged), black socks, and black shoes.  Staff members in a judging role will adhere to the above dress guidelines, donning the Pastimes staff shirt instead of the Magic judge shirt while working in a non-judging role.  Staff shirts will be provided as needed.  

Application Window

The application window for this event will close on May 31st and the staff list will be posted by June 3rd.

Compensation

All Staff will receive a 4-day Origins badge and a limited edition Origins Judge playmat.

Judging Compensation based on level is as follows:
Level 1 judges will receive $100.00 per day worked.
Level 2 judges will receive $175.00 per day worked.
Level 3 judges will receive $250.00 per day worked.

Administrative Compensation is based on role and covers all four days* of the event as follows:
Side Event Scorekeeper: $700.00 for Thursday-Sunday.
Registration Host: $600.00 for Thursday- Sunday.
Customer Service Specialist (i.e. Info Booth, Prize Wall): $600.00 for Thursday-Sunday
*Options for fewer days may be available. If you are interested but not able to work all four days, please put this in your cover letter.

Pastimes will be providing a $25 cash advance from the above compensation for each day worked to help out with meals and expenses. The remainder of the payment to be provided by check at the end of the weekend.

Lodging

Lodging can be found through the www.originsgamefair.com website, or through sites such as Priceline. There are many hotels around the perimeter of Columbus that are very reasonable. Please note that we are not providing lodging for this event, but will provide information about lodging options as we find them.
