Grand Prix London 2016 (ChannelFireball)

On behalf of ChannelFireball, I want to thank you for your interest in working at Grand Prix: London 2016! The dates for this event are October 7th, 2016 through October 9th, 2016. (We will also need some additional help on Thursday, October 6th for set up.)  Please be sure to read the entire application carefully before applying. The application window will close at 23:59 on Saturday, August 6th, 2016.

This application covers judging and administration roles, including judging duties such as the Main Event, Scheduled Side Events, and On Demand Events as well as Administrative roles such as Registration, Info Desk, and Prize Wall.  There will be questions at the end to mark what roles you are interested in

Please note that you may apply for multiple roles, and may have more than one over the course of the weekend.  If you are selected for judge staff, you may still be asked to do take on administrative roles if needed.  If selected for a judging role, you may be asked to do any of the following:

•Work on one of the Main Event Teams (paper, floor, deck check, etc.)

•Judge Scheduled Side Events

•Judge On Demand Events

Everyone selected for judge staff will be expected to work, at a minimum, both Saturday and Sunday.  Anyone selected to work in an administrative position is expected to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

All staff members will receive a Grand Prix: London JUDGE playmat in addition to the following: 

•L1: €100 + 1 box of Kaladesh per day

•L2: €150 + 1 box of Kaladesh per day

•L3: €200 + 1 box of Kaladesh per day

The per day compensation rate covers Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  

Administrations roles offer the following compensation:

Registration - €100 + 1 Box

Info Desk - €125 + 1 Box

VIP - €100 + 1 Box

Prize Wall - €125 + 1 Box

Special Ops - €125+ 1 Box

If selected for an administrative position you are expected to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 

You can opt to receive all or a portion of this compenstion in Channel Fireball Store credit rate of 130%.  For example, instead of receiving €100 cash, you can receive €130 in store credit.

We will need staff on Thursday to assist with product preparation, setting the hall and other miscellaneous set up. 

Anyone selected to work on Thursday will receive €100 and 2 booster boxes of Kaladesh.  Lunch and Dinner (if necessary) will be provided.

This shift will start at 10:00 on Thursday and will go until 20:00 or later.  If you select this as an option please make sure your availability is open all day Thursday.  

We are offering an extended shift, lasting the full nine rounds of the main event, for judges who would prefer to work a longer shift for increased compensation. Extended shifts allow us to run a smoother main event and adds more stability for the judge staff.  If you are interested applying for this, please indicate so on your application. The additional compensation for the extended Saturday shift is:

•L1: Not eligible for extended shifts.

•L2: + 1 box of Kaladesh

•L3:  +1 box of Kaladesh and €50

Selection for extended shifts may not be decided when the staff is initially chosen.  We will get the extended shift information out to staff as soon as it becomes available.

We need a crew on Sunday night to tear down the hall and pack up the equipment.  This shift will start at 15:00 on Sunday and will go until Midnight or later.  If you are selected for the Sunday Strike Team, you may be on the normal Sunday crew, but not for the entire day.  (For example, you may start as a judge at 15:00 for on Sunday, and then transition over to help strike.)  If selected for this, you will receive a box of product in addition to your normal daily compensation. This work is physical in nature and you need to be able to lift and move large and heavy items throughout this shift.

You may apply for one or both statuses: Confirmed or Standby.

•Confirmed means that you are confirmed to work the event. Staffing needs vary day-by-day, but Friday staffing will be posted shortly after final selections are made. To apply for Confirmed status, please select "Full Sponsorship.”

•Standby means that you are not confirmed to work on any day, but that you agree to show up and be "activated" as necessary. You will be included in forum communications, and we may activate you before the event begins, or even on site. If you are not activated in advance, we encourage you to show up and play. Judges selected for standby will receive free entry into the event and vouchers worth three side event drafts.

Please apply for all status types you will accept. If you select Standby and Confirmed, we will consider you for Confirmed staff first. If you select Confirmed, but do not select Standby, we will not consider you for Standby.

Please note that all staff members are independent contractors and will be required to complete appropriate paperwork prior to beginning their shift.  We will be working with Tournament Center regarding appropriate paperwork and compensation. Some paperwork will need to be filled out prior to the event or on site.  Additional information on this will be posted as we receive it.
