Event Information
Thank you for your interest in joining us for the MtG Open sponsored by your local stores all along the Wasatch front! This is the first ever multi-store competitive level event that is open to every and any store that wishes to be involved. We are not sure what exactly to expect from this event, so bear with us as we adapt to our ever changing projections.
Below, you'll find all the information you'll need to attend the event. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at <james@epicpug.com>. We look forward to working with you!
EVENT INFORMATION
MtG Open Head Judge: Jeremy Behunin - L3 - Ogden, UT
Judge Manager/TO: James Christensen
Rules Enforcement Level: Competitive
Planeswalker Point Multiplier: 3x
Our guess is somewhere between 100 and 200 players, wide range for sure. We are going to plan on 5 judges for this event and hope for the best.
Side events will run all day as they fire. This will require one judge on staff to make them happen. If you are interested in doing this, please include that in your application.
EXPECTATIONS
Judges volunteering for the MTG Open are expected to prepare by reviewing the Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Judging at Regular REL documents, each of which can be found at the Magic Judges Document Center. Judges are also expected to behave in a professional manner at all times, as representatives of the MtG Open, the 11 local sponsoring stores, and the Magic Judge program. This includes arriving on time, and in appropriate attire.
Judges should arrive no later than 8:30 AM Saturday Oct 26th and are expected to stay until the conclusion of the Swiss rounds. If you must arrive later than 8:30 or if you have to leave before the conclusion of Swiss (to catch a ride, for instance), please note that in your application.
The dress code for judges at the MtG Open is a tucked-in shirt (exact details to follow), black pants (dress pants are preferred; jeans are acceptable), a belt, and comfortable shoes (both preferably black). Judges should not be in uniform while off-duty, including during breaks and while trading.
COMPENSATION
Certified judges volunteering at the MtG Open will receive 1.5 boxes of Theros for working the full day Saturday. Lunch will be provided as well.
