Event Information
Hi! On behalf of MindSports Academy, I want to thank you for your interest in working at GP Madrid 2016! Here are the application instructions for the GP. If you have any further questions you can contact me at Ch0b3t@gmail.com
Our Head Judge for this event will be Matteo Callegari from Italy and the Support Judge will be Alfonso Bueno from Spain!
Grand Prix Madrid will be held on December 2-4, 2016. The format is Standard. Please read carefully the instructions for application as well as completing our Grand Prix Madrid Application Form.
You have a better chance of being accepted if you are an active L2+ in your community. You must speak sufficient English to operate in a tournament setting. If you can speak other languages please indicate in the application form, but this is by no means a requirement.
Judges at Grand Prix Madrid are expected to prepare for the event in order to provide our players the top customer service they deserve. If selected, you should be updated on the Magic the Gathering Documents (you can find those documents on the Magic:The Gathering Document Center), and you’re expected to read the event’s preparation posts and/or emails.
Judges are expected to arrive on time and in appropriate attire to begin judging at the start of their assigned shifts. Also, as representatives of the Judge Program and MindSports Academy, judges are expected to behave in a professional manner all times.
Please bring appropriate judging attire, including a black judge shirt and black trousers with belt. If you do not have a shirt with the Magic Judge logo, please let us know in our Grand Prix Madrid Application Form so one can be provided for you.
Compensation depends on your level, the amount of days you work and your awarded sponsorship (Travel Sponsorship, Volunteer or Standby). Compensation will be settled during the weekend, after being previously announced. The product will be English product of the current set at that time (which will be Kaladesh). Cash will be paid in Euros.
Please pay attention carefully to the compensation details and make sure you have sufficient space to take all your product home with you when packing.
Compensation judge rates are:
- Level 2 judges receive: 1 Booster Box + 110€ cash per day worked + GP Madrid Playmat
- Level 3 judges will receive: 1 Booster Box + 180€ cash per day worked + GP Madrid Playmat
- All judges selected as Volunteer or Travel Sponsorship will receive 1 Extra Booster Box for the weekend.
- All L3 judges selected as Volunteer or Travel Sponsorship and MSA Masters will have Room Sponsorship from Friday to Monday at the Staff Hotel.
- SE Manager, SE Logistics Expert and Saturday Main Event TL will receive: 1 Extra Booster Box
- ODE Manager and "L3 Shadow" roles will receive: 18 Extra Boosters.
Example:
- A L3 Judge working Saturday and Sunday and working as Saturday Main Event TL will receive: 4 Booster Boxes, 360€ cash, GP Playmat, and Room Sponsorship from Friday to Monday
- A L2 Judge working all three days will receive: 4 Booster Boxes, 330€ Cash and GP Playmat
We’re looking for a few Standby judges for this event. If you’re selected as Standby judge for any day, you will be expected to come and play some events for free (1 Scheduled/Main and 1 ODE per day selected as Standby). However, if attendance is higher than expected, you will be contacted on site to come and judge. This could happen at any given point during the weekend (Friday, Saturday or even Sunday). Standby Judges, if activated, will get the corresponding general compensation per day worked. (This doesn't include the Extra booster box that those who are selected as Volunteer or Travel Sponsorship receive)
Example:
- A L2 that's activated for Saturday will receive: 110€ + 1 Booster Box. + GP Playmat
If you have any question about the Standby system, please contact me at Ch0b3t@gmail.com
All judges working will receive either a food stipend or food vouchers per day to cover their meal costs (TBD).
MindSports Academy is offering a limited amount of travel sponsorship to selected judges. You may apply for a travel sponsorship on the application form. This sponsorship will be from 1 to 3 units of 50€ Travel Cash Stipend. Depending on the distance, budget and other factors we will give from 1 to 3 travel units to those judges selected for Travel Sponsorship.
Our MindSports Academy Masters are automaticly selected for this event with Room Sponsorship, if you want to know how the program works, check it here.
All judges in staff will have to agree and sign a judge contract to work with MindSports Academy during 2016. A contract template will be attached to the event files in case you want to read it in advance.
Some personal information will be requested later to all selected judges to personalize the contracts before the event. Judges should sign them on site during their first day of work.
If you already have signed the contract with us in Manchester or Lille, you only have to sign the Addendum in Madrid.
If you have any question about the contracts, please contact me at Ch0b3t@gmail.com
Please fill out the Grand Prix Madrid application form Then click on the “Apply Now!” link on the top of the page.
Due to staff needs, judges may be accepted for two or three days. There are questions in the Grand Prix Madrid application form to indicate your preferences.
The application window for GP Madrid will close at 11.59 PM Eastern time on October, 2nd.
GP Madrid staff will be announced on or before October 10th. If an earlier notification of your application’s status would facilitate making travel plans, please contact me at Ch0b3t@gmail.com once you have submitted your application.
