Event Information
Welcome to Youmacon 2016!
Youmacon is a four-day anime, gaming, art, and comic convention celebrating Japanese popular culture held annually in downtown Detroit at Cobo Center and the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. Drawing over 19,000 attendees in 2015, Youmacon is Michigan’s largest anime and gaming convention. This year, the Tabletop Gaming Room will again host collectible card game organized play at Cobo Center provided by Gamer’s Gauntlet.
The main events for Magic organized play are dual Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifiers presented by Gamer’s Gauntlet of Clinton Township and Time Travelers of Berkeley. The first PPTQ will begin at 10am and is Standard. The second PPTQ starts at 2 pm and is Kaladesh Sealed. There will also be auxiliary events throughout the day.
Gamer’s Gauntlet seeks two (2) Floor Judges for this opportunity to officiate these two PPTQs at this convention.
Expectations
Judges should arrive at the venue by 9:15 am and can expect to stay until the conclusion of the second PPTQ’s Top8 draft.
Judges should prepare to work hard and provide great service for an excellent player experience. Approaching these events for success requires flexibility, professionalism, and knowledge.
- Review and be knowledgeable of rules and policy found in the Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Judging at Regular documents.
- Perform professionally as a representative of Magic Judge Program, Gamer’s Gauntlet, Time Travelers, and Youmacon.
- Arrive on time and in uniform. For this event, the typical judge uniform of black pants, black belt, comfortable shoes, a plain undershirt, and either a Magic Judge or Great Lakes regional shirt suffices. If you do not have either of those shirts then a button-front black dress shift will be acceptable
- Prepare to support the needs of the main events in additional to small amounts of both scheduled and on-demand auxiliary events throughout the day.
