Event Information
Hello Judges! On behalf of Hairy Tarantula I'm proud to announce our next Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier! This PPTQ will feed PT Nashville 2017. We are looking for 2 Floor Judges for this event. Please read this entire listing as it will have details on expectations and compensation.
The Head Judge for this event will be Lyle Waldman.
EXPECTATIONS
Judging is a lot of fun, but it's also a lot of work. Judges are also expected to review the Magic Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, and Infraction Procedure Guide. Judges are expected to arrive at 10:00am, and stay until at least the end of swiss. Judges are expected to arrive in proper judge attire (Magic Judge shirt or black button-up shirt, black slacks (no jeans please), and comfortable shoes). If you don't have a Magic Judge shirt, let us know and we'll attempt to get one for you to borrow. During breaks, you will be expected to cover or remove your Judge shirt.
SIDE EVENT
This event will have a side event Modern StarCityGames.com IQ, that is expected to start at 2pm. If selected to be Head Judge of the GPT, your shift will instead start at 12:00pm.
COMPENSATION
We offer several options for judges to be compensated, in units called Compensation Units (CU).
If selected for 'Full Sponsorship' you will receive 2 CUs. Select this if you are an L2+ or an experienced L1 who may be working towards L2. If you are working towards L2 please list progress on relevant checklist items as our preference would be for L1s working on their L2 checklist. If you do not select "Full Sponsorship" we will not consider you as HJ of the IQ.
If selected as 'Volunteer' you will receive 1 CU. Please select this if you are an L0 looking to test for L1, or a newer L1 looking to get more Competitive REL experience. You are more likely to be selected as volunteer. If you would like to test for L1 see below.
Each CU can be redeemed for:
12 boosters of a standard legal set
$50 store credit
or $40 cash

If receiving multiple CUs you may mix and match accordingly. Please mention in your application what mix you would prefer. If no preference is selected, we will default to store credit.
Additionally, a $10 lunch stipend will be provided to each judge on staff.
TESTING
Testing opportunities for Level One are available for this event. If you are interested in testing please contact Judge Manager Seth Black at judgesethblack@gmail.com and apply for this event as a "Volunteer".
