Event Information

Hello Judges!

On behalf of the RI/SeMA Area I am pleased to announce our first meetup, with a twist.  This meetups structure will be what I like to call a Comp. REL Bootcamp.

A growing problem in the Judge community is a lack of real oppurtunities to work Comp. REL Events leading to new Judges not having the necissary experience to work their first one.  (The whole you need experience to get experience)  This Meetup's goals are to put that to a end.  We will be simulating a Comp REL Tournament with the help of several volunteers acting as both players and Team Leads (or HJ) and will go through each facet of a Comp REL Event.

Things you will learn at this Meetup- How to prepare for a Small-Medium-Large Comp REL Event, making great HJ announcements, how to be on the Deck Checks Team including live Deck Checks and potientially penalty application(s), managing the floor of an event, being on the paper team, and finally making great calls with common scenarios that come up at Comp REL Events along with a how to handle appeals and investigations.

This meetup is open to anyone in the Northeast Region but participation is capped at 18 due to the hands on nature of the event.

Volunteers will be helping us execute the event, we will need Team Leads for each Team to lead sessions(rounds) with each group (Deck Checks, Paper, and Floor) along with a HJ(Appeals and Opening Announcements)  If interested please submit an application stating which positions you would like to volunteer for and we will be back to you shortly.  Ideally, we are looking for experts in each field above.
