Grand Prix Sacramento

Howdy! As staff compensation is different from previous events, please read through the following information in its entirety.

UPDATE (11/13/13) - There will be a Judge Conference on the Monday (January 20th) following the event at Great Escape Games in Sacramento. Please apply for that event separately here. 

We're glad you're interested in applying to be a part of Grand Prix Sacramento! The dates for this event are Saturday, January 18 and Sunday, January 19, 2014. A limited number of staff will be needed for Last Chance Trials on Friday, January 17. The Head Judge will be Sean Catanese.

Expectations



Please be reminded that judging a GP is a lot of fun, but it's also a lot of work. You get to see a bunch of old friends and you'll hopefully make a few new ones - but you'll also take judge calls, give rulings, take registration, pick up trash, count lists, push in chairs, prepare product, pick up trash, move tables, push in chairs, deploy tablecloths, pick up trash, fold tablecloths, push in chairs, stay up late, pick up trash, help the artists, push in chairs, help with breakdown, and pick up trash!

Please indicate in your application if you are available to work Friday. Early shift is from 9am to 6pm, mid from noon-9pm, and late from 3pm to midnight.

All judges are expected to be available to work until 8pm Sunday.



The application window will close on Friday, November 15.

Staff selections will be announced by Friday, November 22.

Tangible Benefits For You



Foils - Wizards of the Coast will give a selection of DCI foils to all certified judges. Judge shirts will available to certified judges on staff who need them.



Product - Judges will receive a box of product per day worked. Level 3+ judges will receive an additional half box per day worked. This product will be from a recent Magic set.

Food & room - ChannelFireball will provide a check to all staff members for $80 per day worked.
 This includes a food allowance and a hotel allowance to cover the cost of the nearby staff hotel block. All staff members will be required to complete tax information for ChannelFireball before starting their shift.

Hotel

The staff hotel is the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel next door. Rooms in that block are $99 a night for a room with a king or 2 double beds. You can book a room in this block by calling 1-800-325-3535 and identifying yourself as a member of "Magic the Gathering Grand Prix - January 2014."
