Expectations

Judges will be expected to prepare for each event by reviewing the Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Judging at Regular REL documents. These documents can be found at http://wpn.wizards.com/en/resources/rules-documents. As a representative of the Magic Judge Program at this event, judges are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times. Judges are expected to arrive on time and in appropriate attire to begin judging at the start of their assigned shifts.

Saturday LCPPTQ Judges will be expected to be on site at Atomic Empire by 10:15am. Registration closes at 10:45 and the LCPPTQ will start at 11am. You will not be asked to help with the registration process, however we may ask for assistance with line management.

Sunday RPTQ Judges will be expected to be on site at Atomic Empire by 9:15am. Player Check In will close at 9:45 and the RPTQ will start at 10am. You will not be asked to help with the Check In Process, however, we may ask for assistance with line management.

We request that Judges wear the black Magic Judge shirt, black pants, COMFORTABLE shoes, belt and socks.

Judges should expect to stay until the event's conclusion.  We expect the days to each end at approximately 7:00 PM, but as we all know, things happen.  (We are expecting 5-6 rounds for the LCPPTQ and average RPTQ attendance has generally led to 7 rounds, cut to Top 8, but only 1 round as all Top 4 receive invitations)

If you need a shirt or have any questions or issues with the expectations, please contact me at L2jeff.Judge@gmail.com

We are looking to staff the following:

Saturday, February 25th

·         Head Judge PPTQ LCQ

·         1 Floor Judge

·         1-2 Standby Judges (see description below)

Sunday, February 26th

·         2-4 Floor Judges

Standby Judges

For Saturday, we are going to be trying something new. Because the Saturday attendance could be anywhere between 30 and 80+ it provides an interesting challenge to getting enough staff to give the players great judging, but not so much staff that the store loses money. Standby judges may not be used to judge at all at the event. If you are interested in being a Standby Judge for Saturday, please select the checkbox appropriately. If selected as a standby judge, you will still need to be on time for the event as though you were judging. At the beginning of the event, if you are activated you will receive the compensation package described below. If you are not activated, then you will receive $35 in store credit as a thank you for committing to the event, and for being at the event on time and ready to judge. You would be able to play in the event if you so desired.

Due to staff needs, judges may be accepted for one or two days. This question is asked in the questions below.

Compensation

Saturday's PPTQ HJ - $150 Store Credit

Floor Judges for both days - $100 Store Credit

Lunch or a lunch stipend will be provided for all judges who are working the event.

Water will be provided free of charge for all judges working the event.

Judges will receive employee discount on all snacks and concessions the store has available at the snack bar.

Yes, there is Beer at the snack bar. You cannot purchase it before the end of your judge shift. You can buy it with store credit. You cannot drink alcohol while you are working in these tournaments.

Applications are due by 2/19/17.  We will announce the staff list by 2/21/17

Thank you for your interest in helping make this a great event.  If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact Jeff Darran or email L2jeff.judge@gmail.com.
