Event Information
Thank you for your interest in working at the 2017 MTGCon! The event will take place Saturday, May 6th, at the Provo Town Center Mall. There will be several scheduled events, in various formats, including Amonkhet Sealed, Standard, and Modern. You can see more details at http://ccgcon.com.
Please read the full details below before applying.
EXPECTATIONS
All events at MTGCon will be run at Regular Rules Enforcement Level, so we ask all judges to take time before the event to review the Magic Tournament Rules and Judging at Regular document. We may also ask judges to assist with logistics and administrative positions, such as staffing the Prize Wall, directing players in line for registration, and cleaning tables and tearing down display materials at the end of the day. But your primary role will be working as Floor or Head Judges for the various Magic events during the day.
We are also specifically looking for people to fill Scorekeeper positions. If you are interested, please include details of your past experience in your cover letter.
After you have been accepted, please follow the updates in the event forum for important information (e.g. shift schedules, start times, and team assignments).
Finally, all judges are expected to be dressed in appropriate judge attire. This means black pants / skirt, and a black button down shirt (preferably the official Judge Shirt if possible). If this will be a problem for you, reach out to the judge manager, Aric Parkinson (aric.parkinson@gmail.com).
STATUS TYPES
You may apply for one or both statuses for the event:
- "Full Sponsorship" means you are confirmed to work the full event.
- "Standby" means you are not committed to working the event, but that you agree to show up to the event and be activated as necessary. You will only receive full compensation if you are activated, but if you are not activated, you will receive free entry to any one event you would like to participate in.
Please only select statuses you are able and willing to accept. If you apply for both Full Sponsorship and Standby, we will consider you for Full Sponsorship first. If you do not select Standby, we will not consider you for Standby.
COMPENSATION
Regular REL (Level 1) Judges will receive $125
Competitive REL (Level 2) Judges will receive $150
Judges selected for Standby positions without being activated will receive free entry to one event during the day.
PAPERWORK
All judges are considered independent contractors, and will be required to submit appropriate tax paperwork before beginning their shift. Upon selection for the event, we will contact you to send us the necessary information.
QUESTIONS
If you have any questions or concerns about the event, compensation, shifts, etc., you can reach out to the judge manager, Aric Parkinson, at aric.parkinson@gmail.com.
