Hairy Tarantula Special Events for April 2017

Hello Judges! For the 2nd Quarter we are trying something different. We will have all event applications for our large weekend events in one JudgeApps event per month. Please read this whole listing as it has details on applications, acceptances, and compensation.

EVENTS

This solicitation is for the following events:

April 2 - Legacy GPT for GP Las Vegas (and EE Silver Satellite)
April 8 - Modern GPT for GP Montreal
April 22-23 - Amonkhet Prerelease
April 29 - Sealed PPTQ for Albuquerque

For each event except Prerelease we are looking for 1 L1+ Judge per event. Those judges would be the Head Judge for the GPTs, and Floor Judge for the PPTQ (the Head Judge the PPTQ will be (Tentatively) Seth Black).

For Prerelease, we will be looking for at least 1 judge per event slot (there are 6 slots available). A judge may take multiple slots, either in a row or on separate days.

EXPECTATIONS

Judging is a lot of fun, but it's also hard work. During your event, you may be asked to do any of the following:

• Take judge calls
• Clean up trash
• Push in chairs
• Clear aisles
• Post Pairings/Standings
• Clean up trash
• Distribute product
• Push in chairs
• Crowd Control
• Clean up trash
• Perform Deck Checks
• Watch Magic
• Push in chairs
• Clean up trash!

Judges are expected to read the relevant documents for their event(s), including:

• Magic Comprehensive Rules (CR)
• Magic Tournament Rules (MTR)
• Infraction Procedure Guide (IPG)
• Judging at Regular REL (JAR)
• Release Notes for appropriate set(s)

Judges are also expected to arrive at their call time (roughly 45 minutes before their event is scheduled to start), in appropriate attire (Magic Judge shirt or black button-up shirt; black cargo pants, slacks or skirt; comfortable black shoes).

COMPENSATION

Compensation is based on event, level and/or role.

For GPTs, Head Judges will receive $100.

For PPTQs, L1s will receive $80, L2+s will receive $100

For Prerelease, Candidates will receive $40/event slot, L1+s will receive $50/event slot

All amounts are in cash. You may choose to receive your compensation in store credit, with a 25% bonus.
