Hairy Tarantula Special Events for May 2017

Hello Judges! For the 2nd Quarter we are trying something different. We will have all event applications for our large weekend events in one JudgeApps event per month. Please read this whole listing as it has details on applications, acceptances, and compensation.

EVENTS

This solicitation is for the following events:

May 7 - Modern GPT for Montreal
May 13 - Hairy Tarantula Presents: Frontier
May 20/21 - Amonkhet Game Day 

For each event we are looking for 1 L1+ Judge per event. Those judges would be the Head Judge for their respective event.

Note: We will be soliciting judges for Anime North in a separate event.

EXPECTATIONS

Judging is a lot of fun, but it's also hard work. During your event, you may be asked to do any of the following:

• Take judge calls
• Clean up trash
• Push in chairs
• Clear aisles
• Post Pairings/Standings
• Clean up trash
• Distribute product
• Push in chairs
• Crowd Control
• Clean up trash
• Perform Deck Checks
• Watch Magic
• Push in chairs
• Clean up trash!

Judges are expected to read the relevant documents for their event(s), including:

• Magic Comprehensive Rules (CR)
• Magic Tournament Rules (MTR)
• Infraction Procedure Guide (IPG)
• Judging at Regular REL (JAR)
• Release Notes for appropriate set(s)

Judges are also expected to arrive at their call time (roughly 45 minutes before their event is scheduled to start), in appropriate attire (Magic Judge shirt or black button-up shirt; black cargo pants, slacks or skirt; comfortable black shoes).

COMPENSATION

Compensation is based on event, level and/or role.

For GPTs and Frontier, Head Judges will receive $100.

For Game Day, Judges will receive $80.

All amounts are in cash. You may choose to receive your compensation in store credit, with a 25% bonus.

Applications will be processed on a rolling basis, with selections for individual events being made roughly two weeks before the event.
