N.Y.S.E. Open V

 

The New York Stax Exchange Open is an annual unsanctioned Vintage tournament held in the New York City metropolitan area.  With 157 attendees last year, N.Y.S.E. Open IV was the second biggest Vintage event in the world in 2016.  The top eight of the event drafts the following cards, based on final standing:

 

Unlimited Black Lotus

Unlimited Ancestral Recall

Unlimited Time Walk

Unlimited Mox Sapphire

Unlimited Mox Jet

Unlimited Mox Ruby

Unlimited Mox Emerald

Unlimited Mox Pearl

 

9th-16th will be drafting Mishra's Workshops and one blue Revised dual land each.

 

2017 looks to be another big year; N.Y.S.E. Open V pre-registration has opened, and player interest in the event is high.

 

I am looking for a head judge for the event (preferably level three, but potentially level two with experience), in addition to a full judge staff to complement him/her.   

 

Experience in judging Vintage tournaments is a plus, but not necessary.  

 

I will be taking applications through the night of Sunday, May 21st, 2017.

 

Registration for the event will close the night before the tournament (Friday, June 23rd).  I expect to hit our maximum capacity (which will be around 154 or so), with players flying in from Europe, Canada, and all across the U.S. (including Hawaii and California).  

 

 

Compensation for judges for the day will be as follows:

 

Head Judge: $250 

 

Level 2 Judges: $175

 

Level 1 Judges: $125

 

Additionally, all judges will receive a $20 lunch stipend.  Multiple food options will be available.  The hotel in which the event is being held has a restaurant on its main level that will be open during the day, and various delivery options are all available (Italian, Chinese, Mexican, etc.).  If you have special dietary restrictions, and would like to work the event, please let me know and I will see what can be done to ensure that you are taken care of.  An unlimited amount of free bottled water will be available to all staff. 

 

 

The N.Y.S.E. Open is a labor of love; I do not own a store, I am not a dealer.  I have played Magic for more than 20 years, and have been a member of the Vintage community for the last 17; this event is run in large part to support the community.  R.E.L. is competitive for the day, and I am looking for upbeat judges to help continue the successful tradition of past N.Y.S.E. Opens.
