Israeli Conference 2017

We would like to invite you to participate in the Israeli judge conference in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The confenrce will take place on August 5^th, 2017.

Schedule

10:00: Gathering

10:30-11:25: Judging and Playing (Adi Jian)
Be it an FNM or a small prerelease, you can easily find yourself judging and playing at the same time. Being a judge and a player at the same time might raise some problems, as you have many duties while trying to play as best you can. In this seminar we'll be talking about some of the aspects affected by the dual role, and how to tackle them.

11:30-13:00: Rules Trivia (David Shor)
The rules trivia is a fun way for us to brush up on our game rules knowledge through competitive learning.

13:00-14:00: Lunch Break

14:00-14:55: Letter of the Law Vs the Spirit of the Law (Raz Kiani)
We have documents. Hundreds of pages of them. Following these rules and policies is our job as judges. In some cases, though, the rules say one thing, but the intent for them is different. This seminar will talk about the cases where following the rules as written might actually go against the purpose for which they were written.

15:00-15:55: Watching Magic (Alon Luski)
As judges we tend to ignore most games, unless we get a call, but sitting down and watching a game is a practice that judges should do more. There are a lot of things to be learned by watching a game and the players playing it, and this seminar will explore that.

16:00-17:30: Rulings Workshop (Yuval Tzur)
A conference staple. This workshop will introduce you to random situations that may occur in events, allowing you to practice rules, policy, and handling different kinds of players.

Testing

If you want to be tested as a L1 judge, please contact Yuval Tzur before July 1^st.
L2 testing will not be available at the conference.

Support

Judge promos will be distributed to eligible judges.
In order for a judge to be eligible, he or she must apply through this JudgeApps event, and be a certified judge by the application closing date.
