Event Information
Welcome to Gen Con 2017!
On behalf of Pastimes Games, thank you for your interest in making Gen Con one of the best events of the year. We are looking for friendly, knowledgeable, professional individuals to deliver exceptional guest service through the entire Gen Con experience.
The staff at Gen Con consists of more than just judges. We are also looking for great people to help with scorekeeping, registration, the Prize Wall, and our info desk. If you or someone you know is interested in helping in one of these areas, please share this info with them. If they do not have easy access here, please have them email us at staff@pastimes.net and let us know of their interest.
Application window closes: June 26th, 2017
Acceptance notifications (estimated): July 7th, 2017
Event Date: August 17th–20th, 2017
Expectations
All staff members are expected to perform in a professional manner that reflects positively on the rest of the event staff, Pastimes Games, Wizards of the Coast, and the Judge Program. We desire team members that seek to promote a fun, exciting environment for everyone to enjoy.
Judges are expected to wear their black Magic Judge shirt which should remain tucked in and buttoned to the next to the top button or higher, an undershirt, black belt, black pants, black socks, and comfortable, close-toed shoes. Please make sure your shirt is neat prior to the event. If you need a judge shirt, or an additional one, we can provide that if you let us know in advance.
Staff in administrative roles will be provided with a Pastimes shirt and are expected to wear black pants, black socks, and comfortable, close-toed shoes.
If you are selected for staff, you are responsible for monitoring the event forum for important news.
Roles
Gen Con will have many judging and administrative roles. Judging roles include: working on Scheduled Side Events, and/or On Demand Events. Administrative roles include: Registration, Info Desk, and Prize Wall. In addition to these judging and administrative positions, we are offering leadership roles such as Scheduled Events Lead, On Demands Lead, or Other Lead roles based on event needs. There will be questions at the end to select which roles you are interested in applying for.
Please note that you may apply for multiple roles, and may have more than one over the course of the weekend. If you are selected for judge staff, you may still be asked to take on administrative tasks if needed. If selected for a judging role, you may be asked to do any of the following:
-
Judge Scheduled Side Events
-
Judge On Demand Events
If selected for Administration / Operations staff, you may be asked to do any of the following:
-
Information Desk
-

-

If selected for a Lead role, you may be asked to do any of the following:
-
AM or PM Scheduled Side Events Lead
-

If you are accepted as a Lead you may be asked to take on other non-Lead roles at the event, however, you will be compensated at the Lead rate for the all days you are staffed.
