Welcome to the worst tournament you'll ever experience! A growing problem in our Judge community is a lack of real opportunities to work competitive REL Events. This leads to new Judges not having any ability to gain experience. The goal of the boot camp is to provide an opportunity for new or growing judges to obtain this experience.

Event Information

This conference will be split into two halves, presentations and a mock tournament.

Presentations will cover:

• What is a competitive REL event?
• Differences between small-medium-large events (PPTQ to GP)
• Making head judge announcements
• Philosophy and application of infractions
• How to take a judge call
• Deck checks
• Investigation techniques

The mock tournament will be a 3 round tournament that intends to give all participants practice in team roles, deck checking, live judge calls, and appeals. More details to come.

Registration

This event is open to any judge in the Northwest region, but will be limited due to size of the event. Priority acceptance will be given to level 1 judges interested in competitive REL or level 2 judges that still need experience (Cap of 20 attendees). There are a few slots to people that would be interested in presenting, mentoring, and helping act out the mock tournament (Cap of 6 attendees). Most presenters will be used in acting out scenarios for the tournament. While mentors will assist judges in taking calls and running logistics of the tournament. 

Finally the awesome part, this conference will be supported by judge foils! Any certified judge (before the deadline) that is accepted and attending will receive conference foils.

Testing

L1 testing is available at the event, please message Brandon Welch or Ryan Wood after applying for interest in this. Note that judges certified at the conference will not be eligible to recieve foils.
