Welsh Nationals Weekend of Magic @ Firestorm Games

Welcome to Welsh Nationals Weekend of Magic

We are looking for a team of judges to help run and judge a number of events running across the weekend of Welsh Nationals. These events include: The Welsh National Championship, Sealed PPTQ, Standard PPTQ, Firestorm Cup (Modern), Legacy Showdown and On-Demand events.

Judges should be prepared to be flexible and potentially take on a number of responsibilities over the weekend including floor judging, customer service, head judging smaller events, tidying rubbish, pushing in chairs, etc.

For Saturday, we are looking for:

• 1x Head Judge (Welsh National Championship)
• 4x Floor Judges
• 1x Scorekeeper
• 4x Standby Judges

For Sunday, we are looking for:

• 1x Head Judge (Firestorm Cup)
• 1x Floor Judges
• 1x Scorekeeper
• 3x Standby Judges

Judges may apply to work on either one or both days. Please indicate whether you are available in a standby position on either of these days.

Due to the scale of the event, only experienced L2/L3 judges will be considered for head judge roles. The Head Judge role is likely to be announced a few weeks prior to applications being closed to allow for them to have an input into the remaining judge solicitation.

L1 judges are encouraged to apply, but preference will be given to those who have previous CompREL experience and those who are working towards L2. L2 testing opportunities may be possible for judges who are on staff. If you are interested in this, please make this clear in your cover letter.

Location

There is a nearby train/bus station (roughly 5 minutes walk).

Compensation

Judges will receive:

• £100/day in a Head Judge role (only applicable to Welsh National Championship and Firestorm Cup)
• £75/day in an L2 Floor Judge role
• £60/day in an L1 Floor Judge role
• £75/day in a Scorekeeper role

Standby judges will receive £20/day in credit which can be used towards any of the events on offer. Activated standby’s will receive the normal floor judge rate.

Additional Info

We offer food and drink on site, however town is a short walk away should you wish to purchase something more substantial. There are also a large amount of takeaways who will deliver to the store. Toilets are also available on site.
