Event Information
As our current area captain for Louisiana, Nick Buras, will be retiring this year... it's time to pick someone else to help me out!
Responsiiblities of an area captain include:
- Be a resource and point of contact for players, judges and TOs
- Continue with unifying the PPTQ scheduling for TOs and judges -- maintaining the area calendar
- Help judges find events and events find judges
- Consult on feedback and mentorship for judges
- Foster acquisition of new judges and helping judges advance
- Assist in setting and completion of area and regional goals
In short, what I need from a good Area Captain is a contact point. I need a contact for judges and TOs to get connected, and I need a person that I can ask "Hey, can you tell me about Judge X?" because I simply can't be everywhere all the time. I need a face that can talk to people sometimes.
What I do not expect (but I appreciate) is for you to deal directly with significant conduct or diplomacy issues. Those are something that should be relayed back to the RC. If the AC is the best person to have a conversation, so be it -- that can be handled on a case-by-case basis -- but it is NOT a requirement.
Suggested Information for your cover letter:
- Who else do you think would also be a good area captain?
- What are your goals for your area, and do you have plans for timing or implementation?
- What would make you a great area captain?
