Event Information

In a world where dinosaurs and pirates collide, one judge must take charge of a prerelease event to help bring a fun and exciting experience to the players.

And by that I mean prerelease events for Ixalan are coming! We are looking for people interested in fulfilling the role of head judge for these events. Player caps are 32 for the Friday Midnight Sealed, 52 for the Saturday morning and Sunday morning Sealed events, and 48 for the Saturday evening and Sunday evening 2HG events, though historically we know some may go slightly over as we have a little flexibility built in. Listed below are the events we will be running this weekend, along with when registration starts, when the event starts, and when the head judge's call time will be. Call times are before registration begins to ensure the head judge can get whatever prep work is required done to make their event successful.

September 23rd - Midnight Sealed (Reg at 11pm Friday September 22nd, start at 12am Saturday, call time 10:30pm Friday September 22nd)

September 23rd - Saturday AM Sealed (Reg at 10am, start at 11am, call time 9:45am)

September 23rd - Saturday PM 2HG (Reg at 4pm, start at 5pm, call time 3:45pm)

September 24th - Sunday AM Sealed (Reg at 10am, start at 11am, call time 9:45am)

September 24th - Sunday PM 2HG (Reg at 4pm, start at 5pm, call time 3:45pm)

Compensation for head judging these events will be 1.25 packs per player in the event you head judged, to be paid on Ixalan launch day (September 29th). You also have the option of taking your compensation in store credit at a rate of $3.00 store credit per booster pack.

Additionally, the smaller cap on the Midnight Sealed event comes with an additional perk - you are encouraged to play judge this event, and you play in the event for free! Just keep it fair, keep it fun, and keep it moving along! And yes, this means all other events you will be required to full-time judge.

All head judges will need to use WER for registering players, recording match results, and printing/cutting/distributing match slips. They will also need to use RTools to post the pairings and the round clock for their event. They are expected to perform whatever preparative tasks (such as getting the right kind of table numbers up, as they are different between sealed and 2HG) are necessary to make the room ready for their event. They are also expected to read the set release notes when they are available and come ready to answer player questions and promote a fun, educational, and positive experience for all of our players.

Questions, comments, concerns, etc. can be directed to Jacob Milicic. Applications will be accepted through September 17th, and you should know whether or not you are staffed sometime Monday, September 18th.
