Rivals of Ixalan Pre-Release @ Game HQ

The Rivals of Ixalan Pre-release is coming up! Game HQ is looking for  Head and Floor judges to help with our six Pre-Release tournaments.

The  six tournaments:

    - Friday (Midnight) 
    - Saturday (10 am)
    - Saturday  (7 pm)
    - Sunday (11 am)
    - Sunday (12pm Two-Headed Giant)
    - Sunday (5 pm)

Entry fee:

    - $25

Volunteer Duties and Expectations:

Volunteers will help with

    - Passing out product and result slips
    - Answering floor questions
    - Educating the player base
    - Maintaing a fun and safe tournament experience
    - Distributing prizes
    - Other light duties that arise
    - Cleaning the tournament area in preparation for the following flight

Head judges will lead a team of at least one floor judge and will coordinate with store staff to run the flight in accordance with DCI policy and Store policy. They are charged with providing a fun, enriching experience for their crew, the attendees and themselves. 

Currently we are looking to staff 1 to 2 judges per flight, with the exception of Midnight which will have 3 judges. Additionally, select flights will have a standby judge. The goal is to staff every applicant in good standing for at least one event as a judge and then supplement events with standby judges looking to pick up additional event experience.

NEW:

We are using Standby judges in 5 of our events to prepare for possible spikes in attendance. Standby judges will be activated based on attendance. Standby judges who are not activated may play in their scheduled tournament for free.

Attire:

Attire should be Judge attire or black business casual. Traditional Judge attire (Black slacks, black shirt, black shoes) is encouraged, but not required- Regional Judge shirts are acceptable. 


Call Times:

Call times will be posted per flight. They will be 60 minutes before each tournament.


Event Details:

Each flight consists of a judge meeting, a player meeting, deck construction 4 50-minute Swiss rounds and post-event clean up.

What you get for volunteering:

    - 1/2 box of Rivals of Ixalan  per tournament worked to completion. Comp product will be available on the release date, Jan 19th.

    - Alternatively you may elect to receive $40 store credit per tournament worked to completion.

    - There is a food budget of $10 per judge/staff member per flight that will be used to feed the judges and staff each flight.

    - Judges may have bottled waters free of charge during the event they are scheduled to judge. Additionally they may have 1 drink from the cooler  (Monster, Gatorade, Bawls, Tea )

    - A travel stipend of up to $20 is available for judges driving significant distance to the event.

There will be an attendance optional, informal set up at GHQ Thursday night, the 12th, to move tables, discuss player meetings, etc.
