Event Information

Greetings!

Thank you for your interest in joining Atomic Empire to give the Magic players in our region the opportunity to play in the StarCityGames.com Regional Championships!

SCG Regionals will take place on Saturday November 4th, 2017.

Our Head Judge will be none other than the Mid Atlantic Regional Coordinator - L3 Nicholas Sabin!

We are also running a StarCityGames.com Invitational Qualifier Plus on Sunday, November 5th, 2017, HJ to be determined.

I’m looking for Judges who are willing to work both days, as well as judges who are only looking to work one day, and a Head Judge for the IQ plus.

Yes, we are running this event in our store. Currently we are capped at 300 players, which we can comfortably seat in our store.

Expectations

Judges will be expected to prepare for each event by reviewing the Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Judging at Regular REL documents. These documents can be found at http://wpn.wizards.com/en/resources/rules-documents. As a representative of the Magic Judge Program at this event, judges are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times. Judges are expected to arrive on time and in appropriate attire to begin judging at the start of their assigned shifts.

Regionals and the IQ Plus both start at 10am. Judges are expected to be on hand at 9am each day. You will not be asked to help with Registration, but we may ask you to help with line management.

Please wear your Black Magic Judge Shirt, Black Pants, Belt, Black socks, and COMFORTABLE Shoes.  I don’t actually care what color your shoes are, as long as they are closed toe and comfortable.

Judges should expect to stay until the event is finished. With our cap in place, I feel it’s reasonable to expect Saturday to end around 10pm, though we won’t need all of you for the top 8. I expect Sunday to conclude around 8pm, but it may be closer to 9pm. (They’re both Modern, it could be earlier too)

If you do not own a judge shirt, please let me know. Additionally if you have any questions or concerns with the expectations or the event, please contact me at jcdarran@gmail.com

Standby Judges

For Sunday, we are going to be accepting 2 standby judges. Standby judges may not be needed to judge the Sunday event. If you are interested in being a Standby Judge for Sunday, please select the checkbox appropriately. If selected as a standby judge, you will still need to be on time for the event as though you were judging - 9am. At the beginning of the event, if you are activated you will receive the compensation package described below. If you are not activated, then you will receive free entry into the event and your lunch stipend as a thank you for committing to the event, and for being at the event on time and ready to judge.

Due to staff needs, judges may be accepted for one or two days.

Compensation *UPDATED 10-12-17*

Saturday Regionals Floor Judges - $150 cash or $187.50 credit

Sunday IQ HJ - $150 Cash OR $187.50 Store Credit

Sunday IQ Floor Judges - $100 Cash OR $125 Store Credit. We expect the IQ to be smaller than regionals.

A lunch stipend ($10) will be provided for all judges who are working the event each day.

Water will be provided free of charge for all judges working the event.

Judges will receive employee discount on all snacks and concessions the store has available at the snack bar.

Applications are due by 10/23/17.  We will announce the staff list by 10/28/17

Thank you for your interest in helping make this a great event.  If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact Jeff Darran via email at jcdarran@gmail.com
