Thank you for your interest in the SW Winter Judge Conference Investigations Workshop!
What is this?
At the SW Regional Winter Judge Conference in Santa Clara, we will be running investigation seminars. Each seminar will have 4 participants, each of whom will respond to a call as the judge in an investigation scenario being acted out in real time. Other participants will shadow the judge of each scenario and help, along with the presenters, to provide constructive feedback on the judge taking the call. Each seminar takes about 2 hours to allow for feedback, so there will be three occurances of the seminar throughout the day. That means that we have space for 12 participants, so we are using this app to determine who is interested in participating.
Because of the nature of these scenarios, it is necessary that all participants be familiar with Competitive REL and the IPG. In addition, all participants will take a judge call. In order to reduce stress on the participants and time taken in the debriefs and to perserve the integrity of the scenarios, no non-participant spectators may participate.
Who is this for?
These scenarios are primarily designed for judges with L2 knowledge looking to improve their investigations skills, but being an L2 is not required to participate. Any conference attendee is welcome to apply. We know that experiences like this can be nerve-wracking, but they are also extremely valuable opportunities to improve your judging skills. All participants and presenters are expected to be respectful and supportive to all participants during the seminar, and the goal of all involved is to give you a low-stakes chance to improve.
Because we have a limited numner of slots, we will choose judges to participate based on this application. If we cannot include you this time, we will try to include you at a future seminar.
How do I apply?
Apply here by filling out this application on JudgeApps! The application will close on December 27, 2017 so that we can plan appropriately.
If you have any questions or comments, you can email Eliana Rabinowitz or Brook Gardner-Durbin.
