Event Information
Hello, judges!
On behalf of the Northeast Region, I'm pleased to announce our first Judge Tournament Qualifier of 2018! On February 4th, White Knight’s Game Room will be hosting a Judge Tournament Qualifier for those who dare to enter the COMP REL gauntlet.
Introduction
As you may know a Judge Tournament Qualifier (JTQ) is a special type of conference, mainly focused on training L2 candidates. We will be simulating a Comp REL tournament with the help of multiple volunteers acting as players, Team Leads, and a HJ. Over the course of the day, we will go through each facet of a Comp REL event. Participants will be rotating through roles as the various teams. They will learn how to prepare for a Comp REL tournament, how to make announcements, how to handle deck checks with actual decks to check, how to handle the floor, and lots of feedback on investigations and rulings.
Standards of Conduct
We believe our community should be truly open for everyone. As such, we are committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion, or country of origin. Please keep in mind that the Magic Judge Code of Conduct applies to all attendees.
We expect all volunteers, speakers, and attendees, to abide by the following expected behavior:
· Be considerate, respectful, and collaborative.
· Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behavior and speech.
· Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants.
· Alert conference organizers if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.
Unacceptable behaviors include: intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning conduct by any attendees. All venues may be shared with members of the public; please be respectful to all patrons of these locations.
Unacceptable behavior by attendees, organizers, presenters, volunteers, or other patrons of our venues will not be tolerated.
Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.
Who are JTQs for?
If you are a L1 who is seriously working on L2, the JTQ is for YOU!
Many L1 judges regularly want to judge at Competitive REL events, but they just lack opportunities to work with a L2 to get a recommendation, and to take the test. JTQs are exactly the kind of opportunity for those judges.
Aside from the candidates, if you are a L2T or L3 who wants to help with your regional L2 judge development, JTQs will require a lot of mentors to work with the candidates. This is a great way for you to help out, too!
How to Register
If you are interested in attending, please submit a cover letter as though you were applying to a large competitive event (ex. GP, Open, Nationals, etc.) button up above! We will accept applications on a constant basis, so that you can quickly gain access to the event forums.
