Event Information
Welcome to the Pastimes Masters Series Quarter 1!
On behalf of Pastimes, thank you for your interest in making our Masters Series one of the best series of the year. We are looking for friendly, knowledgeable, professional individuals to deliver exceptional guest service through the entire Masters Series experience.
Please be sure to read the entire application carefully before applying.
The application window closes on January 19th, 2018.
Acceptance notification (estimated) will be posted January 22nd, 2018.
Expectations
All staff members are expected to perform in a professional manner that reflects positively on the rest of the event staff, Pastimes, Wizards of the Coast, and the Judge Program. We desire team members that seek to promote a fun, exciting environment for everyone to enjoy.
Judges are expected to wear a Pastimes Staff shirt (we will provide) which should remain tucked in and buttoned to the next to the top button or higher, an undershirt, black belt, black pants, black socks, and comfortable, close-toed shoes.
Event Needs
This application covers Heading Judging and Floor Judging for the Masters Series.
MegaPoint events are regular REL and may be Head Judged by any L1+
$1k Qualifier events are Comp REL and may be Head Judged by an L1 with a recommendation from an L2+ or any L2+
Team Constructed $1.2k Qualifier events are Comp REL and may be Head Judged by any L2+
All $2.5k+ Qualifier event are Comp REL and may be Head Judges by any L2+.

Feb 24th - Modern $1k (Also SCG IQ)
Mar 3rd - Team MegaPoint
Mar 10th - Modern $2.5k
Mar 17th - Standard MegaPoint
Mar 25th - Modern $1k
Mar 31st - Standard MegaPoint

Pastimes Magic Masters Series Judge Compensation

MegaPoint Event (4-5 Rounds, no cut)
Head Judge - $80
Floor Judge - $65
ScoreKeeper - $75
$1000 Prize Payout or $1200 Team Prize Payout - Maximum of 7 rounds with Top 8 Cut
Head Judge - $125
Assistant Head Judge - $100
Floor Judge - $75
ScoreKeeper - $100
$2500 Prize Payout - Maximum of 7 rounds with Top 8 Cut
Head Judge - $175
Assistant Head Judge - $125
Floor Judge - $100
ScoreKeeper - $125
Assistant Head Judge is a new role for Pastimes events, this is a mentorship role designed to assist a newer HJ with someone more experienced in handling the issues that may come in a larger tournament. An Assistant HJ is not an appeals judge but someone to help guide the HJ and be a source of information.
Status types

You may apply for one or both statuses: Confirmed or Standby.
- Confirmed means that you are confirmed to work the event. Staffing needs vary day-by-day, but Friday staffing will be posted shortly after final selections are made.
- To apply for Confirmed status, please select "Full Sponsorship."
- Standby means that you are not confirmed to work on any day, but that you agree to show up and be "activated" as necessary. You will be included in forum communications, and we may activate you before the event begins. If you are not activated, you will receive free entry.
- To apply for Standby status, please select "Standby."
Paperwork
For this event you will be an independent contractor for Pastimes, Inc. You will need to fill out a contractor agreement, submit an invoice and standard paperwork (IRS form W9 or W8BEN) and we will send you a form 1099 for your taxes at end of the year. There will be no tax withholding onsite as this is the contractor’s responsibility.
