Introduction

It's that time of year - and it is with great pleasure that we annouce the 2018 Toronto Judge Conference.

This is a little bit wild and crazy, but we're planning this event for SUNDAY, APRIL 1st! 

Many of you are likely asking "WHY?" Well, on this date, we'll be graced by a presentation from our illustrious RC himself, Jon Goud.

We've got the backroom at the Firkin Pub booked for this event. Be sure to patronize the fine pub throughout the day :)

Event Summary

Conferences are a great place to pick up valuable knowledge and skills related to judging, as well as an excellent source of networking within the judge community.

Over the course of the conference you can expect to see various presenations on a variety of topics relating to judging and interacting with players/organizers.

Foil Support and Registration

As a token of appreciation for your hard work and dedication to the Judge Program, towards the betterment of the Judge Program a selection of Foils will be provided to eligible participants.To receive foils you must be: 

• at least a Level 1 Judge,
• at your first judge conference of the year,
• in good standing as of the application deadline,

The application deadline is March 2, 2018. 

Foils for this event will be mailed to eligible participants by our RC after the judge has submitted their online conference review.

If you apply after this deadline, foils cannot be guaranteed for attendance. *If you will be eligible to receive foils when this conference takes place, please select Full Sponsorship. Otherwise, select volunteer.*

If you wish to attend the Toronto Judge Conference please take some time to fill out an application and tell us about your JudgeLife^TM. Since attendance to this conference will be limited please include in your cover letter how this conference will affect your own personal growth as a Judge.

Please note preference will be given to Canadian Judges, but all prospective attendees are encouraged to apply (and will be accepted as long as there is room and cover letters contain sufficient content)

If your Judge Level is currently listed as L0 please have your RC contact the Judge Manager to confirm your certification.

Presenting

If you are interested in presenting please include this information in your cover letter and accompanying questions. Presenters will be accepted on a rolling basis with 4 spots available total. 

Tentative Presentation Schedule

11:00 - 11:20 Arrive

11:30 - 12:50 - A Canadian Pro-Player Panel hosted by Jon Goud Featuring Edgar Magalhaes, Paul Dean, Jonathan Zaczek (Nikachumtg) and Derek Pite (Misplaced Ginger MTGO)

1:00 - 1:50 - Jon Goud - Customer Service and Investigations (with Role Play!)

2:00 - 2:50 - Graham Schofield - Applying to Large Events - Cover Letters and Preparation 

3:00 - 3:50 - Duncan McGregor - Professionalism and Judging

4:00-4:50  - Kaitlin McLachlan - Using Policy to Create Inclusive Spaces

5:00 PM - ???? - Head to FacetoFace games for hangouts and fun. 

Presentations will occur at the Firkin Pub and Food will be available on-site throughout the presentation. Presentations will begin promptly at 11:30 due to scheduling constraints. Judges are encouraged to arrive and place orders ahead of time. 

Short breaks between presentations will take place to provide judges time to place orders and for food to be served. 

After the event, we'll head to FacetoFace games for Magic and Merriment! 

Testing

If you are interested in testing for the next level this is the perfect opportunity.  L1 Testing will be available at this conference.
