Expectations

Judges will be expected to prepare for each event by reviewing the Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Judging at Regular REL documents. These documents can be found at http://wpn.wizards.com/en/resources/rules-documents. As a representative of the Magic Judge Program and Pastimes at this event, judges are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times. Judges are expected to arrive on time and in appropriate attire to begin judging at the start of their assigned shifts.

On both days Judges will be expected to arrive at Pastimes at 8:45 a.m.. Registration for these events will begin at 9 a.m. and we expect Judges to help with registration and with event preparation.  We request that Judges wear the black Magic Judge shirt, black pants, shoes, belt and socks.

Judges should expect to stay until the event's conclusion.  We expect the days to each end at approximately 7:00 PM, but as we all know, things happen.  (FYI, the LCQ will have a max cap at 64 players and average RPTQ attendance has generally led to 7 rounds, cut to Top 8, but only 1 round as all Top 4 receive invitations)

Judges should be familiar with WER and should have experience with scorekeeping a 75+ player event.

If you need a shirt or have any questions or issues with the expectations, please email john@pastimes.net

We are looking to staff the following:

Saturday, March 24th
  • 1 Floor Judge/Score Keeper*
  • 1 Head Judge
Saturday, March 31st
  • 2-3 Floor Judges/Score Keeper*

For both days we are also accepting Standby as an option.  Standby judges are a special sponsorship class. Standby judges may not be used to judge at all at the event. If you are selected as a standby judge, you will be informed if you are needed to judge at the beginning of the event. If you work the event, you will receive the compensation package described below. If you are no selected to judge, you will receive $40 store credit. If you apply and are accepted as a Standby Judge, you be present and available on the days you are accepted.

*We expect any Judge who is applying to be able to assist in Score Keeping a 75+ person event.  If you have not done this before, please note it in your application.

Due to staff needs, judges may be accepted for one or two days. This question is asked in the questions below.

Compensation
Floor Judges for both days - $100 cash plus lunch per day.
*No additional food, travel or hotel compensation will be provided.
