Event Information
Event Info and Roles
Dearest Judges,
The Long Island Retro Gaming Expo is happening on August 11th and 12th and needs a few (no more than six) fine judges to help out with some casual events.
We will need Judges to help with registration, teach new-comers how to play, and floor judges to help answer questions.
We'll be running Quick Matches, much like Turbo Town at Grand Prixes (pick up games of any format), and what we're calling a "Welcome League:" Players get a welcome deck and two boosters to build a deck out of, and play with anyone else in the league throughout the day.
Compensation
All judges accepted through Judge Apps will be given one box per day of any Standard-legal or other similarly attainable product (to be discussed individually) as thanks for their help over the weekend.
Judges, as well as all other volunteers for the expo, will also be provided a free ticket to enter the convention (with time off shift to enjoy what the convention has to offer), Lunch and Dinner for both days, and a Long Island Retro Gaming Expo drawstring bag.
You will also be invited to the Volunteer Appreciation BBQ shortly after the expo.
Expectations
Professionalism is an important part of any event, but a friendly, welcoming attitude will be also be a priority here.
Judges will be given a Long Island Retro Gaming Expo Volunteer T-Shirt to wear while on shift at the event. Please bring a comfortable pair of jeans and sneakers. We also ask that Judges bring a change of shirt or something to put on over the shirt for when they are not on shift.
As all events will be run at Regular Rules Enforcement Level, Judges will need to read and understand the Judging at Regular document. The expo staff will also be holding three training sessions: one online, and two offline, to be scheduled at a later date. Judges who are accepted will be encouraged to attend at least one of these sessions.
Judges will be responsible for their own travel and lodging.
Judges will work one half-day shift each day and will be required to arrive on time with a positive attitude ready to help people have fun. :)
Final Notes
Some of the above is subject to change. Please refer to the change log at the bottom if something seems different.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to e-mail Christopher Rumore in the link provided next to Judge Manager.
Applications will be accepted from May 16th until June 8th. Acceptance e-mails will go out sometime between June 9th and June 15th.
