Judging and Playing?

Hey all, I just got certified as an L1, and I wanted to start judging my local FNMs to get practice in before the bigger tournaments. I know the official blog says it's fine to judge and play in a Regular REL event, but the software seems to be rejecting me as head judge when I'm an active player. Am I misunderstanding something? Is the TO messing up? I just want to make sure I know what the exact procedure is.

You have fallen afoul of one of WER's little idiosyncracies!

Enter yourself as the HJ before adding yourself as a player, and this should resolve the issue!

This is a known bug. Have the TO add you as a judge before he adds you as a
player.

Based on my experiences with WER, this seems in character. Thanks!

Also if you forgot to add yourself in(and notice before the event starts), you can drop yourself from the event, add yourself as the judge, and then re-enroll yourself. If drop doesn't work, you might have to delete yourself from the event. I've had to do this once or twice to get around this bug.

I've run into that issue before. Never knew how to fix it, so I just entered myself as a floor judge and hit “add as judge” in the Local Players tab.

how can one get the result list on time as a player thought?
you are in a game, and is possible for you running out of time for you own mach, right?

I recommend to take a look at Kim Warren's very good article about Judging while playing. You can find it here

Speaking only for myself, I just help the TO input results. If I'm in a game and someone needs to report, they talk to the TO. If I'm not in game then they can report to either of us.

I've rarely found time to be an issue for me. I tend towards very aggressive decks, so my matches are usually over in about 15-20 minutes anyway (usually less).

I've never found an issue. It takes like 1-2 minutes to get everyone's
results after I'm done. If you have enough players for it to take longer,
chances are there's another judge or someone that can take results.

You can just click “More Judges” and manually input yourself, too. No need to jump through additional hoops.
