What happens if both players get disqualified in the finals of a single elimination playoff?

Prizes don't typically “pass down”, so what occurs when there's no active player remaining in the event after the disqualifications are applied?

This is from the MIPG, on the Definition of Disqualification:

When a player is disqualified during a tournament, they are removed from
the tournament and does not take up a place in the standings. This means
that all players in the tournament will advance one spot in the standings
and are entitled to any prizes the new standing would offer.

For example: If both finalists of a PPTQ are DQed, the invitation will pass down to the player that finished 3rd in standings.

Just a friendly reminder that questions like this deserve an ‘O’fficial answer; while Julio's quote is applicable, it's not entirely correct, nor is it complete. Here's the full text from the IPG:
When this penalty is applied, the player loses their current match and is dropped from the tournament. If a player has already eceived prizes at the time they are disqualified, that player may keep those prizes but does not receive any additional prizes or awards they may be due. A player that is disqualified from a tournament does not receive Planeswalker Points or Professional Points for that tournament.
When a player is disqualified during a tournament, they are removed from the tournament and do not take up a place in the standings. This means that all players in the tournament will advance one spot in the standings and are entitled to any prizes the new standing would offer. If the Disqualification takes place after a cut is made, no additional players advance in place of the disqualified player although they do move up a spot in the standings. For example, if a player is disqualified during the quarterfinal round of a Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier, the former 9th place finisher does not advance into the single elimination top 8, but they do move into 8th place in the standings.
Whether or not an RPTQ invite would pass down is a question that should be directed to Wizards of the Coast - i.e., please don't make assumptions for something like that, help the player(s) confirm that. (I direct them to Wizards Customer Service.)
