Judges are not tools for players to use in order to enhance their strategic options.

@Toby: The difference between this and Domri Rade is that Domri Rade specifically says “reveal that card…if you do…” It specifically gives you an instruction to reveal it. If you're revealing the card only to verify legality, and not because the ability you're activating specifically tells you to, I think you're doing something wrong.
