So apparently some of the JOU boosters have all 15 gods in them? Should/would we consider this to fall under “abnormal product” for the purposes of limited tournaments, prompting replacing the pack (but letting the player keep their 15 gods, separate from their event pool)?

The kinds of abnormalities I'd be concerned about are missing all 3 uncommons, miscuts that are confusing (picture & text of one card, name of another).

That paragraph in the MTR makes it clear that it's at YOUR discretion (HJ & TO) whether or not to replace a pack with all 15 gods.

Me? I'd say “well done” and let them play with it. If they win a match with a deck that uses all 15 of those gods, I'd be sorely tempted to give them a prize! But, that'd be my discretion, it doesn't have to be yours.

Would this paragraph not kick in and bar them from using 10 of them? Or does this only apply if the Limited product mix does not include Born of the Gods and Theros?

Other than basic land, only cards from the expansions of the boosters opened (and only cards opened in that
player’s pool) may be used in a player’s deck. For example, in a Magic 2013 Sealed Deck tournament, any card in
a booster other then the Magic 2013 game cards received by the player and basic land may not be used in a
player’s deck during that tournament. Exception: Nonbasic lands from the Return to Ravnica and Gatecrash
expansions opened in Dragon’s Maze boosters are allowed in Limited formats using Dragon’s Maze cards.

I'm inclined to agree, it's a fun boon. Just wanted to be sure it wasn't something that needed policing. :D

Thanks Uncle Scott!

“only cards from the expansions of the boosters opened” - I suppose you could disallow any gods from Born of the Gods, if you're not opening any BotG packs.

The reason that line was added, was to make it clear that the “buried treasure” in the initial distribution of Zendikar couldn't be used unless it was from the sets being used in the event where it was opened. You could justify a literal application, and disallow some of the gods - but I think we want to celebrate their particular good(?) fortune.

Sean: No, since the pre-releases uses packs of Theros and Born of the Gods.
If it's a triple JOU draft or something, then sure, you can ONLY play the
five JOU gods.

The prerelease packs contain 2 Theros and 1 Born of the God booster, so every God opened in this God pack is “from the expansions of the boosters opened”. So, just add 25 basics and any fix you might have opened, and may the gods be always in your favor!

I would definitely throw in extra prizing for anyone who chooses to play in God Mode.

I had personally decided I would ask the player if they wanted to use it, if they said yes I would let them, if they said no I would replace it and let them keep the gods they opened. What does everyone think of that as a solution?

We opened up a gobooster just a minute ago. A person working for Hasbro (distributer of Magic product here in Belgium) insisted on giving an extra “play booster” and letting him keep “the God price”.

this is a decent solution, I would pretty sure head for the same (because all other players will complain)

I love it at a pre-release, let them have some fun with it, play it out and cheer as they stomp the opponents with 15 gods.

But, I'd be inclined to swap it at a PTQ or other competitive event.

It was a hypothetical question that came up during the pre-release, but I don't know the answer.

A) Can this also happen in a draft?
B) If so, say that the TO refuses to replace the product, is the player allowed to drop before passing the pack?

MTR 2.10: Players who drop during limited events own the cards that they correctly have in their possession at that time. This includes any unopened or partially drafted boosters.

Bold by me :)

Personally I doubt there will be many all gods packs around. I also
suspect they would only appear in Prerelease Stocks as this was the case
with Zendakar Prerelease I believe? I think it would be really bad for
the TO not to replace it as that is not a huge financial burden on him.
I think the best policy would be to announce the person who opens it
keeps that pack as a reward for finding it. The pack is replaced and the
deck swap continues as normal.
