Above all have fun and enjoy the event. Be confident in your rulings and focus on players going home with a positive feeling afterwards.

…and make sure that you are familiar with the latest version of the JAR: http://wpn.wizards.com/sites/wpn/files/attachements/mtg_jar_18jul14_en.pdf

Check with Star City Games. Even a regular IQ has a $250 cash first prize plus an invitation to an SCG Invitational. I suspect SCG wants it run at Competitive REL.

Then again, Game Days are Regular REL events and are seperate. I don't think you can run an IQ as a Game Day

A store may not run an IQ in place of their Game Day event or as their Game Day. However, they are welcome to add the prizes from an Invitational Qualifier package to their event. Game Day rules for running the event take precedence, as that is the event that is actually being run.

Cody, I'll send you an email with some things to expect and general program information!

For those that find themselves in this situation; there is a specific advertising requirement from WotC.

IE: Game Day featuring SCG: IQ or SCG:IQ featuring a Game Day. I forget which one is the correct way though.

Reedy, If you know, could you provide that information in this forum? (I don't want to guess off of memory)

When adding prizes to those events from a branded source, whether SCG or
TCGPlayer, Wizards wants it to be listed as featuring
prizes. Keep that in mind, and follow the policies of the
branded event you are running and you're in good shape.

We had an issue at a local store where we could not run a Game Day in the same event as an IQ since the IQ is competitive by definition and Game Day is Regular by definition.

While that's normally true, what the fold in this thread are saying is that SCG will allow you to forego the usual requirement of Comp by running a Game Day and using the IQ kit prizes. You aren't actually running an IQ so it doesn't need to be Comp, but you can advertise it as Game Day featuring IQ prizes.

So if I understand this correctly, 1st place at Game Day if it is featuring the IQs prizes, gives out an invite to the winner?
