Hi all,

first i don't know if this is the correct section but i believe so.

Anyone from here is the responsible for Mtgjudge the app for iOS devices? Or anyone know why it hasn't been updated?

Hi Jose,

i am not sure, but you might get in contact with Fabian Peck, L3 Judge from Australia. If i remember it right, he is in contact with the developers, or might be even one of them.

I think Jose is referring to the app created by Alexei Gousev.
Alexei is one of the main driving forces behind the new
Apps.MagicJudges.orgsite, and he's also busy working at a major
software company, so I guess
he's been way too busy to be able to update the MTGJudge app.

yes, its him.

that's sad, it is a very good app. I can search for oracle, or rules very quickly without have to go through the .pdf.

lets hope he manages to get some free time then.

thanks for the answers.

I'm not involved in the development at all but I've been helping get feedback on MTGGuide, another iOS app which is also awesome. (http://www.mtgapps.com/mtg-guide/) [mtgapps.com]
It's got searchable and hyperlinked comp rules, MTR, IPG, everything =)

I think the one you are referring to was Alexei Gousev's school project. I think he's Californian, so maybe Sean Catanese can follow up on him?

Can you “tag” judges in posts on here?

I spoke with Alexei about this at GP:SJ. He is basically too busy to continue the updates. He has made the program open-source so anyone with the appropriate code knowledge is able to update it. If anyone feels up to the task, I suggest contacting Alexei directly for the information needed to update the program (there are some quirks with the Gatherer updates specifically). Unfortunately I have no knowledge of code. :P

Anyone who does follow through on this will be a hero to the judge community, btw. :-)

He updated it to download data updates without having to update the app. Where does it pull from? I'd be happy to update the source. Alexei?

I highly recommend the couple of dollars that MTG Guide costs. I find the search functions to be much easier to use, and the only thing it's missing is the decklist counter that MTGJudge has. Don't get me wrong, a lot of effort went into MTGJudge and it's a fine app, but MTG Guide is just that one notch better, in my opinion.

MTG Guide does have the drawback for many judges of not being available on Android last time I checked.

I emailed Alexei several weeks ago offering my services in taking over the updating of his Android App, and never heard from him. The source code is linked to from the App Page, but I still wanted to talk to him about it, since it's his project.

If anyone (Josh Stansfield?) is in regular contact with him, could you ask him to get back to me and I'll take a crack at it?
