With the change to the FNM Formats a few months ago, it listed “Invent your own Format”, would that cover Tiny Leaders?

I would think that it would, but I want an “O” answer before I present to my LGS.

Thank you.

OK, Official then: Yes and No.

Yes, Tiny Leaders is fine as a Friday Night Magic format;
No, YOU didn't invent it. :)

(Only the first statement is serious, of course!)

Another way of looking at it - if you're playing a format with real Magic cards, then it's probably OK for FNM.

Not with that attitude….

But seriously, thanks!

I know some of my local players will be happy to hear this, at least a tiny bit.

Heh - "at least a tiny bit“?!?

I should clarify - these ”invent your own format" variants should be sanctioned as Casual. (I think the FNM info already said as much, but just in case…)

There is more information to come in the near future about running Casual format FNMs.

Oh, thats excellent actually! One of the stores I judge for is a more ‘casual’ store and I am completely sure that they will find more information about Casual FNM helpful.

Thank you!

Has anything else been published yet? I've had a scout around the forums and can't find anything.

No kidding, I've actually had a request from one sick bunny :) in my local group for Judge Stack FNM! I had to tell him that even with the ability to create your own format, I didn't think Judge Stack would count.

That seems like a recipe for GP level headaches from thinking too hard. Though I know a few people who would love that idea.

If Judge Stack is sanctionable, does this mean that “Flip it or Rip it” is now a sanctionable format?

IMO Asking questions about obscure formats seems like a recipe for disaster. The best use of FNM is having a community play formats they like as a whole. Having too many options will cause people to not show up or be confusing for new players. FNM shouldn't be complicated.

IF you run a small 8-player weird event how do you deal with the 9th player? The potential for alienating some of the players is too high of a risk(player leaving) with little reward (different format).

FNM should be inclusive and inviting for all. Not exclusive.
