Modern Masters as a Limited PPTQ Format?

Hello all,

I have one local TO who has scheduled their next PPTQ (Milwaukee) as a limited format event on the 24th of May, just after the release of Modern Masters 2. He would like to run the event as a Modern Masters 2 limited event (as there is widespread support for this in the community), and he is checking with his WPN rep, but I thought I should ask here whether we can get some official statement that this is permissible (or not, as the case may be).

As far as I can see, the PPTQ Milwaukee fact sheet specifies that limited PPTQs after March 27th will be using Dragons of Tarkir / Fate Reforged product (see here: http://magic.wizards.com/en/protour/pptqmil15), but if I recall correctly when Modern Masters 1 came out it was eventually announced that it could be used as a limited format in premier events like GPTs in contradiction to the published fact sheet (please correct me if I am mis-remembering).

I would say asked and answered: http://apps.magicjudges.org/forum/topic/14764/

But perhaps a more officialy source needs to confirm?

** NOTE ** this post has been superseded by more recent ones, below.

For the Milwaukee PPTQ round Modern Masters 2 is not permitted as a limited format.

Modern Masters as a Limited PPTQ Format?

Does that mean that a store in fact can now hold a Modern Masters 2015 sealed as a PPTQ format after MM2 is released, or simply that if one is to hold a MM2 tournament, this is the way you would do it?

A store in fact can now hold a Modern Masters 2015 sealed as a PPTQ format after May 22

Just to be absolutely clear Andy, can my local store, who has scheduled a Sealed PPTQ for Milwaukee on the 24th of May, choose to hold it as MM 2015? I ask because your recent answer appears to be in conflict with your previous answer that MM 2015 is not an option for the Milwaukee PPTQ season.

Two more points of clarification:

A store that did a MM2 PPTQ would be still obligated to do a T8 draft, correct?

And does the MTR's statement that MM2 is effective through July 16, 2015 meant that after that date a store won't be able to hold MM2 PPTQs?

Thanks in advance!

1) You have to draft with the same product as the sealed.

2) Correct, after July 16th PPTQs will utilize Origins.

To clarify, are you saying IF you draft Top 8, you must use the same product as you did for the sealed portion?

Or, are you saying that every Sealed PPTQ MUST run a draft for the Top 8 (in contrast to GPTs, where the TO can choose to run the Top 8 using the same sealed decks from the Swiss rounds)?

I honestly do not know the requirements for when a PPTQ has to draft or not.

If you have a sealed portion, and a draft portion, the product needs to be the same.
