GPT question

I apologize if this is on here already I couldn't find it.

If a store is running a GPT it has 28 players can the TO choose to do just 4 rounds cut to top 8 or does it have to be 5 rounds? The store would like to do 4 rounds and a cut they asked me and I am unsure if there are exceptions.

As per the MTR, the number of rounds listed in Appendix E are required for Premier tournaments (such as GPTs).

Grand Prix trials require a specific amount of rounds based on the attendance. You can find additional information in the GPT rules on the WPN site, Here is the link to it.

GPT question

Hi Michael,

There are good reasons for the recommended numbers of rounds stated in MTR. MTR also specifically mentions that these numbers are REQUIRED for premier events (like GPTs).

I suggest that the TO contacts their WPN representative to ask for an exception (and have a good reason prepared). Otherwise they risk that the GPT could be invalidated (and the players would receive no GP byes or PWPs).

By the way, thanks for your care of your community and TO integrity.
