Missed Triggers Feb 2013 exam
For all the current Level 2+ judges out there, there is an exam in the Judge Center that should help you practice your knowledge of the February 2013 definition of Game Play Error–Missed Trigger and recognize when a trigger is considered missed. The quiz is short (only 5 questions, from a total pool of 7 questions) and is a very brief way to just make sure you're up to date on the MIPG. So, if you have a moment or two, please take the exam so that you can make sure that you are providing your players with the correct rulings.
Now, while the exam is specific to Level 2+ judges (as it is a “refresher”), that doesn't mean the content is just specific to this exam. Yes, most of the questions are actually assigned to multiple exam pools, so that you can potentially encounter one of these questions when taking the Hard Practice, Policy Practice, or L2 Practice exam. And if you are a Level 1 who wants the specific experience from this exam, just ask a Level 2+ judge to create one for you. (If you want to discuss any content, make sure to respect the confidentiality of the exam and not discuss it publicly via any forum, listserv, IRC, or even where other people could hear you.)
Keep in mind that the focus for this exam is Competitive REL; there is a greater need for consistency in enforcement with the policy. Handling missed triggers at Regular REL is more about education and helping the players to fix the situation. Exercise some discretion and care, keeping in mind that while the player is responsible for their own triggers, the opponent is no longer required to point out a missed trigger.
