When rewinding, how do we rule in what main phase cards have been played?

Android17 controls a Runeclaw Bear with a Furor of the Bitten on it. He has forgotten about the must-attack clause. In his head he thinks about attacking but chooses not to. He plays a Cylian Elf and says go. Nappa, before drawing a card, realizes the error and calls a judge.

If we rewind, do we rewind the Cylian Elf as well because Android17 meant to play it in his post-combat mainphase? Or because Android17 had given no indication to Nappa about when he cast the Elf, and casting the Elf pre-combat is a valid sequence of actions, we rewind to the attack phase with the Elf on the board?

Corner case. Use your best judgment, if this happens: ask a few questions, figure out what you think happened, and proceed accordingly.
