CFBE: Staffing Changes for MagicFest in 2020

Hi everyone,
Now that the 2020 MagicFest schedule has been published, we'd like to discuss a few changes to MagicFest staffing happening, starting in MagicFest Austin. If you have any questions that you don't see answered here, please email us at judge@cfbevents.com.

Why did staff compensation rates change?
The price of booster boxes have been rising, so we needed to make some adjustments to compensation. Higher prices meant we could arrange a higher buyback rate for boxes, which also allowed us to raise the amount for the all monetary compensation option. We felt this was the best option for giving flexibility to the staff with their compensation.

How will the Players Tours be staffed?
The Players Tours will be staffed through the CORE application for the MagicFest. MagicFests with a Players Tour will offer three (3) day leadership slots rather than the standard two (2) day leadership CORE slot. If selected you will likely work on both the Players Tour and MagicFest over the course of the event. Head Judges and Appeals judges for the Players Tour will be staffed via the regular MagicFest Burgundy solicitation process.

How will the Players Tour Finals be staffed?
We do not currently have any information on the staffing of the Players Tour Finals.

How will CFBE be considering levels in 2020?
For this first wave we will be using Historical and Legacy levels for our selections, Judge Academy levels will also we recognized for anyone that has “leveled up” since the transition.
