Warning or not Warning

I don't think I would issue a Warning here (or in the “Crew Copter after going to attack phase” case). I would certainly not force the player to waste his Shock.

What the player tried to do is not illegal per se. It is just not how shortcuts work. Once we clarified the situation, I do not see the point for a Warning. If you think that the offending player was fishing for information, the infraction is Cheating.

That was helpful in answering my question. It's interesting my reading of “in answer to” mean "in answer to it's resolving. That is, I didn't see (not sure if I yet do) see a suggestion of a problem. However, I appreciate the words being brought to my attention enough to imagine at least words that would cause me concern.

There may be a bit of a language issue here. One of the meanings of
“answer” is “response”. “In answer to” in the scenario is meant to be “in
response to” in usual English Magic.
