Good! and, Thank You for doing that.

I understand that sometimes, the penalty doesn't seem like it fits the error, but it does provide consistency (on a global scale!) if we all do as Alex did, and follow the IPG. This is the right way to take action, when a penalty doesn't feel right - ask in this forum.

Alex, as others have said, a Warning is fair for an honest mistake of this nature; it's a good thing, because L@EC happens a LOT, esp. when shuffling as clumsily as I often do. And, like others also said, if this was done with the intent to gain an advantage - i.e., trying to see what was still in the sideboard and/or what was sided out - then Cheating is a fitting penalty.

It wasnt a dexterity error but it wasnt intentional. The real issue for me is the impact of the information gained.

As i mentioned i issued the correct penalty, it just feels inadaquate to me.

Thanks Scott.

If it wasn't an accident and it wasn't deliberate - what was it?

He meant to pick up the SB divider… he didnt realise the SB was under it. It had nothing to do with dexterity.

That sounds like an accident to me. I'd be looking as to why they were trying to grab the SB divider.

I can imagine that the player just wanted to check that pretty divider with a wonderful picture lying out there…

It was a stripped foil, the player had never seen one in person.
