Staff for Grand Prix Washington DC will be primarily Level 2+ Judges. A small number of Level 1 Judges may be selected to assst with side events.

Expectations

Judges at Grand Prix Washington DC are expected to prepare for the event by reviewing the Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Judging at Regular REL documents. These documents can be found at the Magic: The Gathering Document Center. As representatives of StarCityGames.com and the Magic Judge Program, judges are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times. Judges are expected to arrive on time and in appropriate attire to begin judging at the start of their assigned shifts. The Head Judge will be arranging main event shifts for Saturday and Sunday and StarCityGames.com will assign side event shifts including all Friday schedules.

Judges at Grand Prix Washington DC should dress in Magic Judge Program attire including Official Magic Judge shirt, black pants, black belt, and comfortable black shoes. During breaks, or any other time that a judge is off duty, judges should remove, or cover, their Judge shirt. Once staff has been selected, there will be a forum thread posted with a way to request Magic Judge shirts.

Compensation

All Judges will receive one month of StarCityGames.com Premium, StarCityGames.com Judge Rewards items, exclusive Grand Prix Washington DC items, and the following Compensation Units (CUs) determined by their level:

• Local (Level 1) judges will receive two (2) CUs for each full day on staff.
• Area (Level 2) judges will receive three and a half (3.5) CUs for each full day on staff.
• Regional (Level 3), International (Level 4), and Professional (Level 5) judges will receive five (5) CUs for each full day on staff.

Food, Lodging, and Travel

All judges will receive a $20 cash meal stipend per day on staff.

StarCityGames.com is offering a limited amount of travel sponsorships to selected judges. You may apply for a travel sponsorship based on your certification level.

Area (Level 2) judges may apply for two levels of sponsorship:

• Partial Travel Sponsorship - $50 per day
• Full Travel Sponsorship - $100 per day

Regional (Level 3), International (Level 4), and Professional (Level 5) judges may apply for three levels of sponsorship:

• Partial Travel: $200 travel stipend
• Full Travel: $350 travel stipend
• Three Day Travel: $500 travel stipend (Must be available three days)

The Grand Prix Washington DC application form has questions to indicate the level of sponsorship you are applying for and whether you are willing to consider an offer for one tier below. Judges will not be offered a sponsorship level more than one tier below their requested level. Note that financial considerations will be taken into account when staffing this event.

Grand Prix Washington DC will be part of the 2016 StarCityGames.com Keystone program. Details can be found here! Please note that Keystone Sponsorship is currently available only for Level 3 or higher.

Due to staff needs, judges may be accepted for one, two or three days. There are questions in the Grand Prix Washington DC application form to indicate your preference, and requirements to attend, in your application.

The application window for Grand Prix Washington DC will close at 11:59 PM Eastern time on January 17, 2016. Judges wishing to apply for this event after the application window has closed will need to contact us at judge@starcitygames.com.  Please note that late applications will be considered at a lower priority than those received during the official application window.

Grand Prix Washington DC. staff will be announced on, or before, January 25, 2016. If an earlier notification of your application's status would facilitate making travel plans, please contact us at judge@starcitygames.com once you have submitted your application.

Judge Certification

Magic Judge Program certification for Level 2 is available at Grand Prix Washington DC.

Judges who wish to be considered for testing for Level 2 must meet the following criteria:

• Complete the pre-test requirements listed at the Official Resources page.
• Take a Level 2 Practice Exam and include the score in your responses to the Grand Prix Washington DC application form.
• Apply to be on staff.
