When it resolves I'd like to give him 10 and give me 20. Will we both end at 10?

You will both stay at current life totals.

Reverse the Sands asks you to choose a distribution of life, and you can't make an impossible choice. Choosing to give yourself 20 life is impossible since you can't gain life; therefore you have to choose a distribution where all players' life totals are equal or lower. The only possible choice here is to leave life totals as is.
