Suspend vs. Thorn of Amethyst

Hello,

Adam is in his upkeep and removes the last time counter from his suspended Ancestral Vision. His opponent Norman controls a Thorn of Amethyst.

Suspend says:
"When the last time counter is removed from this card, if it’s exiled, play it without paying its mana cost if able.“

It's that ”if able" that makes me wonder, and I'm here to double-check. I'm working under the assumption that Adam is not obliged to activate mana abilities to be able to cast Ancestral Vision, however, if there's already mana in his mana pool, he must cast the suspended card.

Am I right?

This is correct.

You must cast it but you don't have to activate any mana abilities.
