Reverse Damage, Rain of Gore and combat damage.

My opponent has Rain of Gore and Blightsteel Colossus

He attacks.

I cast Reverse Damage to prevent the damage.

Do I gain 11 life or lose 11 life?

Per 615.5, the life gain event happens separate from the turn-based action that would have dealt damage.

Is the life gain event still considered part of the modified event of the turn-based action and I therefore gain 11 life because Rain of Gore wouldn't apply?
Or is it not part of the modified event and I lose 11 life, despite it not being a resolving spell or ability?

I suspect I'll be gaining 11 life, but would like confirmation.

Reverse Damage, Rain of Gore and combat damage.

You gain 11 life. Rain of Gore only applies if a spell or ability is causing the player to gain life. In this case, the Reverse Damage is preventing combat damage and you're gaining life due to the combat damage being prevented. Since combat damage is not a spell or ability, Rain of Gore will not apply and you will gain 11 life.
