Trinisphere
Dismember

Sanity check here. I know that in the past if you choose to pay 4 life to cast Dismember with a Trinisphere on the battlefield you'd still have to pay an additional 3 mana to cast Dismember. Does that still apply or did the rule change that as long as the spell costs 3 mana, the way it's payed (be it life or mana) doesn't matter.

Thanks for your question. Nope, this interaction hasn't changed. Choosing to pay 2 life instead of B means that you're spending less mana to cast it, and can make Trinisphere apply to the spell. For example, if you want to cast Dismember with a Trinisphere in play, you have three options: 1BB, 2B and pay 2 life, or 3 and pay 4 life.
