Missed Trigger Guides

A project dedicated to creating and maintaining the missed trigger guides found in the Rules Resources

Project Manager: Beau

Project Description

This project creates and maintains the missed trigger guides that live on the Rules Blog, found here: http://blogs.magicjudges.org/rules/mtg/

My vision for this team is a group of individuals that identify and discuss the detrimental triggered abilities in both newly-released and existing expansions.  Once all triggered abilities in a particular set or format have been categorized, we will add to the wiki two new missed trigger guides- one including a table of all triggered abilities in the set, and one containing only the detrimental ones.

This project requires significant maintenance as the missed trigger guides for formats (e.g. Standard, Modern, etc.) will require constant update with each new release.  Furthermore, improvements to the MIPG may necessitate revision of existing guides, or require the need to expand the contents of each table.  Unfortunately, the Judge Wiki does not currently support much in the way of JavaScript add-ons, so this project will attempt to accomplish these goals by making use of the existing functionality through manual editing of Wiki articles.  However, a project member has written a standalone Perl script to make the generation of table markup into essentially an automated process and this application is available to all project members.

Much of this project’s work will be very time sensitive- one of the project’s goals is to generate and publish set-specific missed trigger guides in time for each prerelease.  Another goal is to obtain oversight and approval from high-level program leadership of all detrimental triggered ability determinations made for each triggered ability.

This project has a natural division of work.  Individual group members are responsible for specific missed trigger guides, with some members being responsible for more than one.
