Project Description
This workshop allows judges to improve their tournament logistics knowledge by solving different logistic-centered situations.
The workshop works in a way similar to D&D by having a moderator guiding a team of judges through a simulated event, while measuring the event's success in terms of delays, player satisfaction and tournament integrity.
A team acts as an event staff, with each team member assuming a leading role required for the event. Each role requires leading other judges (real or virtual), managing tasks and resolving problems or issues that arise during the day.
There is a range of situations of various difficulty levels, so it can be adjusted to the team's strength and experience.
The workshop is built for groups of 3 to 7 judges (5-6 work better).
A group consists of the following roles:
- Moderator
- Moderator Assistant (optional)
- Head Judge
- Paper Team Lead
- Deckcheck Team Lead (Competitive REL only)
- Logistics Team Lead (Limited formats only)
- Scorekeeper
Moderator (experienced judge):
Guides the team by choosing the situations and deciding the outcomes of the solutions provided by the team. The moderator will also provide feedback about the decisions made by the team.
The moderator represents the non-judge people attending the event (TO, players, spectators).
Moderator Assistant (experienced judge):
Similar to the moderator. Having an assistand might help in situations where several non-judge roles are involved in a situation. The assistant can also intervene by changing some situations or adding additional restrictions to asituation.
Judge Staff (participants):
The participants act as the judge staff of the event. Different situations are brought to the attention of the relevant judges, and they should provide a solution (a solution may be reached after discussing with the rest of the team).
Reccomended role assignment by group size:
3 participants: Moderator, HJ, Paper TL
4 participants: Moderator, HJ, Paper TL, Deckcheck/Logistics TL
5 participants: Moderator, Assistant, HJ, Paper TL, Deckcheck/Logistics TL or Moderator, HJ, Paper TL, Deckcheck TL, Logistics TL
